C 47 November 1957 - A C47 transport plane went down on the southeastern tip of Glacier Bay National Park (then a National Monument) during a snowstorm. Four Alaska Air National Guardsmen were killed. Three others walked away. 50 years later I walk down an obscure trail through the rainforest and see the wreckage, reclaimed by the understory and orchids. The brilliant colors, the graffiti, the story preserved. I found it fascinating. Size: 12"x12" with frame Available at Virtu Gallery, Anchorage www.virtugallery.biz |
